Aftercare Options
You will have the choice between private cremation and communal cremation for your pet’s remains.
You can inform us of your wishes on your consent or intake form prior to Dr. Meredith’s arrival. Dr. Meredith will also confirm your choice in person the day of your appointment prior to departing your home.
Private Cremation:
If you select this option, your pet will receive a private cremation. Your pet’s remains will be returned to you within seven (7) days with a complimentary wooden urn.
Paw prints, custom urns with engraving, and jewelry to memorialize your pet is available upon request. If you opt for a custom urn or jewelry to remember and honor your pet, Dr. Meredith will have Furever After Pet Cremation Services contact you directly, so that your request may be fulfilled.
Communal Cremation:
In this instance, your pet’s remians will be respectfully spread in a special area designated by Furever After Pet Cremation Services.
What will my pet’s remains look like?
Your pet’s remains will typically appear as a gray powder with small flecks of white.
Burial options: If you choose to bury your pet on your own property at home, please ensure that you avoid areas with tree roots or rocky ground. The burial site must be covered with at least four (4) feet of earth. Additionally, it is imperative that you check with your local county regarding the town ordinances that govern proper burial procedures for animals that have been euthanized using controlled substances. This may include regulations pertaining to the required depth above the water table, or specific distances from utilities such as wires or pipes.
It is of the utmost importance that these regulations be adhered to in order to avoid contamination of: ground water, casualties to local wildlife, and potential fines.
